🇷🇸 Mokrin House in Serbia
The pioneer of rural coliving in Europe, running since 2016 in a Pannonian farming village in Vojvodina. The striking modern architecture alone is worth the trip, but the real reason people rave about Mokrin House is simpler: an onsite chef cooks three meals a day, and everything is included.

🇳🇴 Arctic Coliving in Norway
For nomads whose idea of countryside involves fjords and powder snow. Arctic Coliving runs two social adventure lodges in Norway: the Voss Mountain Lodge in Mjølfjell, built decades ago as a peace project by students from over 20 nations, and the Lofoten Pier Lodge in Henningsvær, a former fishermen's home on the waterfront of Lofoten's cultural capital.

| 💶 From | About €72 per night shared, €108 private (Lofoten) |
Location: The Voss Mountain Lodge sits in Mjølfjell near Voss, about 1.5 hours from Bergen. The Lofoten Pier Lodge is in Henningsvær in the Lofoten archipelago, 30 minutes from Svolvær airport.
Community: Shared kitchens, a lodge sauna, a wood-fired pizza oven, and a crowd that skis, climbs, hikes, and chases northern lights together. Lounges to work from rather than a dedicated coworking space, so it suits focus work more than call-heavy days.
Prices: At the Lofoten Pier Lodge, from 850 kr per night (about €72) in a shared room and 1,275 kr (about €108) in a private room, with discounts on nights beyond 2, 4, and 6 weeks. Book via their site.
🥾 Who is rural coliving for?
Rural coliving is not for every nomad, and that is exactly its charm:
- You want community over anonymity: In a village coliving, you eat, work, and hike with the same people for weeks. Friendships form faster than in any city coworking.
- You want to slow down: Most rural spaces have minimum stays of 1 to 2 weeks and reward staying a month. This is slow travel by design.
- Families and older nomads fit in well: The crowd in rural spaces skews calmer and more mixed in age than the party hubs. Several spaces welcome couples and families, ask ahead, room setups differ.
- You need to plan around seasons: Many rural spaces run seasonally (Sende, Arctic Coliving) or have a clear best season in the mountains. Book earlier than you would in a city.
